CORONAVIRUS ALERT
LATEST UPDATE (18.03.2020) – anyone with symptoms of cough (new) or fever MUST SELF-ISOLATE FOR 7 DAYS, anyone who lives with someone with these symptoms, MUST SELF-ISOLATE FOR 14 DAYS. WE CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH DO NOT COME TO THE SURGERY IF YOU OR A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER HAVE THESE SYMPTOMS. The government have announced new information for over 70s and under 70s with health conditions that would normally be invited for a flu jab. This is really important and we advise everyone to follow this. Click here for more information. Please like our Facebook page @BarnburghSurgery Extended Access – Appointments Outside of Practice Hours ( posted on Oct 29, 2018 ) Extra appointments are being provided in the evening and at weekends across Doncaster. The service is an extension of your GP practice and offers routine and same day appointments with a range of clinicians including GP's, Nurses and other Healthcare Professionals.
When using the service, you may not see your usual doctor, but we do employ clinicians from local practices where possible.
With your consent, our clinicians will be able to access your healthcare record to ensure they can offer the right treatment for you and prescribe medication or refer you for further treatment if necessary.

Flu Vaccine Available ( posted on Sep 20, 2016 ) Flu Vaccines are now available within the practice. If you have a chronic disease, are over 65 years of age, pregnant, or a carer please contact the practice to arrange your vaccine. The app is listed on the App Store and is free to download. To download the app, search for "SystmOnline" in the app store. We hope to hear that an app is avaliable in other formats soon too and will update as soon as we can. We hope you find this new feature helpful. Children's Flu Vaccine ( posted on Sep 11, 2013 )
Flu vaccine have been produced for children aged 2 and 3 years old. The Department of Health is recommending that all children aged 2 and 3 have an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine is not an injection for this catchment, it is a nasal spray. Please book an appointment for your child with the Practice Nurse.
Shingles Vaccination ( posted on Sep 11, 2013 )
The department of Health has introduced a new vaccination to combat shingles in patient aged 70 and 79. Shingles can be a painful condition caused by the chicken pox virus which occurs later in our lives. Vaccination letters have been sent out and we would recommend all patients in the current catchment to attend for your vaccination. You can have the vaccination at the same time as you flu vaccination just mention you want both when booking. Patients in other age groups may be included in the catch up programme currently run by the Department of Health.
Travel Vaccinations ( posted on May 24, 2012 ) It's that time of year again where we start to think of our holidays, don't forget that for some destinations travel vaccinations are required and these can be completed, in most cases, here at the surgery. Complete our online form or collect one from reception, and then contact the surgery four working days after submission. Our Practice Nurse will have your individual recommendations relating to where you are travelling and your previous vaccinations. We want your holidays to be enjoyable and not potentially harmful so please complete the form in full. Some vaccinations require time to develop immunity so please complete the form as soon as possible to allow us to vaccinate in plenty of time for your trip. Text Message Appointment Reminders ( posted on May 17, 2011 ) In an attempt to reduce non attendance and to provide a better service to our patients we can now provide text message reminders to all patients with pre-booked appointments. A consent form is available in reception or online. Please note if you register online we will contact the requested number to confirm the request. The texts will not hold any personal information just details of the appointment.
Please note the responsibility to attend for your appointments remains with you, this service is a complimentary service to aid attendance only. Please ensure we have your correct mobile number and that you cancel any appointment you are unable to attend by calling reception.
Non Attendance for Appointments ( posted on Apr 7, 2011 ) We are continually monitoring the amount of time wasted by patients not attending for their appointments, and statistics are shown in the practice. In the 2009-10 year we had 20 hours of doctors appointments and 80 hours of nurse appointments not attended. In the 2010-11 year there was a slight improvement, doctors appointments missed dropped to 16 hours twenty five minutes and nurse appointments to 66 hours. We wanted to thank all our patients for helping to reduce this total and notify you of the many ways you can cancel an appointment at the practice to continue the improvement.

These appointments are clearly marked on the booking request slip. Please take care when booking these appointments.
